Premier Kiviet not impressed with leadership at
Eastern Cape Premier Ms Noxolo Kiviet has today vowed to go back to
A hour went by, with out any signs of learners at the school and teachers had to go to the village to look for the learners. While waiting for the learners, Premier Kiviet questioned parents, teachers and the officials of the Department of Education about what was happening at the school. The blame game began with parents blaming the department and teachers blaming parents about the dire state of affairs at the school.
Premier Kiviet said: “There is lack of leadership at this school and nothing else. If you have learners who jump fences during school hours and teachers who come to school at 9h00 or 10h00 everyday what do you think will come out of this school? This school has good resources like computers, and electricity and even the structure is in good condition but now people donâ€Tt adhere to the basic requirements of teaching and learning. We require leadership urgently at this school.â€
Premier Kiviet told the learners that if they want a brighter future they have to be in class everyday learning. She pleaded with the officials of the Department of Education to investigate what is happening at the school and submit a report to her office by Wednesday, November 4.
However Premier Kiviet said the grade 12 learners at the school had the potential to do well in their upcoming exams. “Some work has been done to ensure that the school improves from last years results and we wish the learners all the best of luck. They told me that they are fit and ready to write and I trust that they will do well.â€
Not a single learner passed at the school last year and this year 22 learners will be sitting for the grade 12 examinations.
